History

The Southern World Group was founded in 1991 by the merger of Newman's Tours, Horizon Holidays and Atlantic & Pacific Holidays, three well established South Pacific travel companies with over 175 years of combined experience.

The company enjoyed a management buyout on 1996 and fell into private ownership.

In December 2000 our group was significantly enlarged by the purchase of Thomas Cook Inbound in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. This acquisition further confirming the company's commitment to destination Management in our region. The combination of business making Southern World one of more significant inbound operators in the South Pacific.

Southern World has no borrowings and remains privately owned with all company directors involved and working in the business on a daily basis.

We remain one of the very few commonly owned and branded Inbound Tour Operators that have full service operations in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.

We are full members and active participants in our respective inbound associations and have representatives on the Australia & New Zealand national boards.
